Here are a few ideas of what to have on hand to prepare for the new addition to your family:

  • Water/food dish

  • Puppy chow (we use Purina Puppy Chow)

  • Tasty treats

  • Training treats

  • Chew toys

  • Bones

  • Collar & leash

  • ID tags

  • Bags for poop

  • Crate/kennel

  • Bed

  • Brush

  • Puppy shampoo

  • Nail clippers

  • Flea & tick preventative (usually given to you at the first vet appointment)

  • Pet deodorizer/floor cleaner

We had great success using Buck’s Dog Training with one of our dogs! If you’re looking for a local trainer, we highly suggest them!

Before coming to pick up your new family member, we suggest to do a little reading up on how to train your puppy in a way that fits with your lifestyle! There are free resources online, books you can purchase, and articles online that can help with this. Think about whether you want to crate train, if you want to use bells near the door to indicate "going out," how you want them to take treats from you, etc. Here are a few resource suggestions we have:
